A Thin Life

My latest paintings on thin Japanese paper. 
The sensitivity and transparency of the paper has me thinking about the fragility and transience of human life, and how thin the line can be between beauty, joy, longing and loss.
Love and landscapes and surreal fantasy are recurring themes in the works in reality and imagination combine in the paintings, creating a space where the viewer can see both the external landscape and the internal world. For me, landscape is not just a place, it is also a memory, an emotion and a state of mind.
Japanese paper gives the products their delicate essence. Its thinness makes the paintings both delicate and strong. I want to bring the idea that although human life is thin and fleeting, it can hold enormous amounts of love, dreams, memories and hope.
And to pause for a moment in front of these tender images and reflect on the fragility, beauty and meaning of their own lives.
